Plastic Crown Moulding for your home decoration

Plastic crown moulding is becoming a hot topic of discussion for homeowners. Unlike the wooden moulding that is usually offered, plastic moulding can have other advantages. To make the right choice between plastic crown moulding and the traditional wooden moulding, you need to know what makes plastic moulding different – aside from the materials.

Plastic Crown Moulding

Here are some reasons that you should choose plastic crown moulding:

• Plastic can be cheaper – Since plastic is easy to produce, it can be much lower in price than the traditional finite wood supplies.
• Plastic is more mutable – When you use plastic crown moulding, you can get many more designs than you can with traditional wood. These moulding pieces are created by a machine, which allows them to be pressed into a number of designs – even from your own design ideas.
• Plastic is easier to maintain – Instead of having to oil the moulding to remain supple and shiny, plastic requires nothing more than a simple wipe down from time to time. It is also harder to scrape and cause damage to.
• Plastic is already colored for you – With plastic crown moulding, you can choose any number of colors and designs that will suit your interior design ideas. They will already be ingrained into the plastic, so there’s no need for you to do any additional work.
• Plastic moulding comes with installation pieces – Many pieces of plastic crown moulding will already have installation pieces – nails, screws, etc. – that can be directly applied to the location where the moulding should sit.

But there are some drawbacks as well to plastic crown moulding:

• It looks like plastic and not like wood – Most people will be able to tell that you chose plastic over wood.
• It can be chipped and can not be repaired – When you take a chunk out of plastic, it’s obvious, especially when you have a pattern on the moulding.
• It can fade in color – With the plastic materials, sunlight can cause the designs or the colors to fade over time. And the problem with this is that they can not be restored.
• It can warp under extreme temperature changes – If you accidentally have a fire or other harsh temperature change, the material can bend.
